Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the tablets whole, with a full glass of water.
If you take too much (overdose) or think you have taken too much (excess dose missed), contact your doctor immediately. You should not take more than 1 dose within a 24-hour period.
If you think you have taken too much (overdose) or more than you should, contact a poison control center immediately. An overdose of this medicine may not be caught. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your doctor immediately.
Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medicine. Grapefruit can cause serious stomach upset and make it harder for your body to absorb the nutrients needed for the treatment. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Call your doctor right away if you have any of these severe side effects such as chest pain, shortness of breath, general feeling of discomfort, shortness of breath, muscle weakness, slow heartbeats, loss of appetite, nausea, dry mouth, tiredness, or yellowing of your skin or eyes. These symptoms are not common and may happen. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse.
You should not give this medicine to a child without first getting help. Never give it to someone else. Never take it by mouth. It may cause serious side effects. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never mix medicine with alcohol. It may cause severe stomach pain and make it difficult to swallow the medicine. Also, you should not mix NEXIUM Control with some other medicine. Ask your pharmacist about this.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems or if you are taking any other medicines. This medicine may affect some medicines you take. Avoid taking alcohol with this medicine. This medicine does not work immediately if you take it with food or milk. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to get pregnant. You must discuss the risks and benefits of this medicine during pregnancy with your doctor.
